Western Wats

I began my career in 2008 as an editor at Western Wats (now Survey Sampling International), where I worked for three years. I was quickly promoted to a lead editor, and I was responsible for managing the shift, generating project reports, and training new editors.

I have been a freelancer since 2008. I have freelanced both full-time and part-time. I have worked on novels, literary journals, a medical handbook, a business startup guide, screenplays, countless blog posts, dissertations, theses, and more. I have often tutored college students free of charge.

Humanities Publication Center

I entered the publishing industry in 2014 when I joined the Humanities Publication Center, working directly with the Brigham Young University Press. While there, I acted in multiple capacities: acquisitions editor, developmental editor, copy editor, layout designer, and typesetter. I often worked directly with the client in creating and polishing his or her manuscript.

College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences

In 2015 I worked as the assistant editor at the College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, where after six months I was promoted to managing editor. I was responsible for a team of five: an assistant editor, three writers, and a photographer (I was also responsible for a graphic designer for certain projects). My team and I managed five newsletters, published three scientific articles per week, created the semiannual Frontiers magazine in record time, and launched a wildly successful Honor Week ad campaign. I also was responsible for maintaining the college website and helping to plan for a new sister site.

Meridian Engineering, Inc.

In 2016 I joined the civil engineering firm Meridian Engineering, Inc. I was originally hired as their technical writer, but I became the marketing coordinator once they found out I have extensive experience in multiple aspects of marketing.

At Meridian, I am the marketing department. I write and prepare proposals for bid opportunities, write blogs and articles, take dictations and edit transcriptions, update the firm’s social media accounts, design infographics and ads, redesign and update the website, redesign the logo and letterhead, take and edit photos of the firm’s latest projects, and much more. I am currently creating a 20-year anniversary video for the firm.
